Faux Sweets Story
FAUX SWEETS is a professional fake food and dessert decorator located in Los Angeles specializing in creating beautiful hand-made food, home and event décor. FAUX SWEETS was founded by Mae, a former banker now baker. She started this business as a cupcake shop on Etsy in 2017.
The inspirations come from Japanese fake food culture and memories of pâtisserie shops in France where desserts decorated the displays like enchanted jewels too beautiful to be eaten. Having a "craft thumb" she started experimenting and researching the art of food mimicry.
In 2017, FAUX SWEETS received the “Rising Star” Award for the 2017 Harvest Festival and has worked on a 128 piece collection designed for CURIOUS, a London-based Event Agency for the “let them eat cake” themed event at the prestigious SWAN Shakespeare‘s Globe. J.Crew has invited FAUX SWEETS for their Holiday Artisan Fair at the Del Amo Fashion Center in Dec. In 2018, FAUX SWEETS showed with Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn and West Elm to launch the Fall Collection. On April, 1 2019, FAUX SWEETS was featured on Buzzfeed Tasty showcasing how to make a fake Alphabet Cake.
FAUX SWEETS continues "baking" sweets and invites you to the joy of guilt free indulgence of sweets.
